You make an interesting point in your posting. I will be interested to hear your view on what you believe is the correct financial levels for outsourcing providers. A factor affecting the potential growth of the Indian vendors outside of the points you mention is also the slowdown in the US economy. Though the end of year quarter results for most of the players have not shown a slow down there is a cautious note with budgets being delayed to mid Feb. Vendors have so far put a brave front on the slowdown but there is an internal scramble and a real worry about the slowdown.

With the factors you mention above on imperatives in the market, the margin compression will happen for Indian vendors as they get away from their core bread and butter offerings and diversify.

Mohit,

That's correct. Providers will see the downward pressure on margins based on their new business imperatives. At the same time, the new spread of presence and market offerings will drive their growth - volume vs margin. As far as US recession is concerned, I feel its much hyped issue in the media. There may be some impact on providers reflecting the postponement of discretionary spend etc. but I don't believe its going to have any medium to long term impact on the provider industry. Thanks for your comments.
