Hi,

You are right that a lot of work is increasingly being carried out by the indpendent professionals around the world. At the same time, I doubt if large organizations are depending on such individuals - unless the work is of a nature that needs a single brilliant mind.

In India, I find that many individual programmers, content creators, web developers are logging on to online market place or creating their internet presence to freelance. Largely they cater to small and medium businesses and not the large firms.

One key driver for such change is the ease of communication - be it mail, or emerging VoIP phones, which allows even individuals to compete with bigger organizations.

We are also seeing small BPOs emerge in smaller towns which cater to the small/medium firms in processing administrative tasks. Interesting days ahead!!
